The Zynga Mafia
Before gaming became social by design, Zynga tapped into connection, competition, and casual fun.
Founded in 2007 by Mark Pincus, Justin Waldron, Eric Schiermeyer, Michael Luxton and Steve Schoettler, the company set out to reinvent how people play by making games social. With breakout titles like FarmVille and Words With Friends, Zynga turned everyday interactions into playful moments and helped define the rise of mobile and social gaming.
Its mission to connect the world through games sparked a new era of digital engagement and proved that play becomes even more powerful when it’s shared.
But Zynga wasn’t just a gaming pioneer. It was a breeding ground for bold builders. Its fast-paced, creative culture sparked the launch of startups like Cirkla, Mobile Premier League, Bombay Play, Rocket and CodeSignal. What began as a mission to connect the world through play ended up fueling the next wave of tech innovation.

The Zynga Mafia has founded 267 companies and raised $6B.
