Plaid is a financial services company that provides technology to enable applications to connect with users' bank accounts. It was founded in 2013 by Zach Perret and William Hockey.
The idea behind Plaid stemmed from the founders' own experiences with the difficulties in accessing financial data while working on a different startup idea that also required integration with bank accounts. They realized that the process was cumbersome, and there was a clear need for a too.
